I'm not sure why, but tonight I feel a little worn.
The desire to do little but sleep and eat has come back.
I should talk to Ace, because I know he would help me feel better, but it feels like a little too much right now.
Hopefully at this time tomorrow I won't feel quite so worn.
Later.

Concerned About the Dog
Guillermo seems to be feeling bad today. He threw up 3 times, he's moving slowly, he's not eating.
So, I've spent quite a bit of my evening concerned about the dog. I've checked on him more often than I normally do.
Monday, we've got an appointment to have him checked out by vet. I'll be feeling better after that trip, unless he starts acting normal tomorrow.
So, for now I'm concerned about the dog.

The Worst Thing of Living in Oklahoma
... is that your show gets preempted if there is bad weather, even if it's not anywhere near you. As long as it's within broadcast range, you miss your show.
I think that's part of why shows are being shown online. For those of us living in tornado alley to keep up with our favorite shows.
I guess that means I'll be actually watching CSI tomorrow when it's on CBS's website. And for now, I'll be watching something else.
Some days, it's hard to live in an area that has lots of storms in the spring and fall.

Movie I'd Like to See Remade
I just saw a preview for the Speed Racer movie. I'm not sure if I want to see it. It did make me think of a movie I'd like to see remade: Tron.
From what I've heard, it was cutting edge in the '80s when it was made. I vaguely remember seeing it in the past. I mainly remember the chase scenes. But I think it would be fascinating what they could do with it today.
What movie would you like to see remade?

The Wonder of Baths
This morning, when I finally got up, I had a stiff back. I didn't want to move. Then Ace suggested that I take a bath.
It was a wonderful idea. I felt a whole lot better afterwards. My back was more relaxed.
So, I'm feeling the love for baths.

It Is A Truth
I haven't wanted to be a princess since I was a little girl.
An odd way to start a post, I know, but I'm watching a movie that starts off by saying that all women want to be princesses.
And of course, that got me thinking. My main thought is that I don't want to be a princess. I want to be treated like a princess, but I don't want to be one.
As soon as I realized that being a princess wasn't just about fancy clothes, dances, and being waited on hand and foot, I stopped wanting to be one.
And that isn't really the life I'm looking for now either. I want to be able to dress up when the occasion calls for it, but I want to wear jeans and t-shirts for the most part. I want to go out dancing, but not necessarily too often. I'd like someone to help me with taking care of my house and my kids, but I like doing some things for myself.
In short, I don't want to be a princess and haven't in a long time. But I do want to feel like one.
And I think the universally acknowledged truth is that every woman wants to be treated as if they were a princess.
At least, I know that I do.

Why I'll Try Dying My Hair Next Time
Um, yeah. My hair has a red tint to it. And that's about all that got done.
Next time, which may be this weekend, I'm going to try dye my own hair. Hopefully I'll do better than Ace did. Maybe then my hair will actually be red instead of just reddish.
Um, yeah. That's all.

FREEDOM!
Yeah, I'm free.
Except where I said I'd go back up there Friday to show the newly hired person to where all the files and supplies and such are, since I moved them all around.
But I am now a housewife again. For at least the next few weeks.
But that means my house should be nice looking when and if I decide to work a temp job again.
I'm still not sure how I feel, because I'm kind of numb. It hasn't fully hit me that I've finished that job yet. I'm sure tomorrow morning I'll find myself wondering what to do (oh, wait, I have plans to dye my hair and give Ace a haircut, so I know what to do).
Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Thursday Is All About the Hair
Thursday, Ace and I are focusing on our hair (before he goes to work, anyway). We're dying my hair and cutting his. We, okay Ace, may even give Guillermo a bath. I'm fairly sure he's starting to get stinky.
That is the sum total of my plans this week other than work. And I like it. It's nice to not have any serious plans for the near future. I've been too busy just trying to get from A to C that I forgot that B is closer and where I'm really aiming for.
So, while I'm at B, I'm going to work on cleaning my house back up. It's been neglected for other things, so now I'm going to focus on getting it back into shape.
But first, I'm going to focus on the hair in this house on Thursday.
Everyone has to start somewhere, right?

Enjoying the Sun
Today, Ace and I opened the windows and let the sunshine (and the wind) in the house. It was nice. I'm liking the warm weather and I'd like it to stick around. We could use more days where we can open the windows like this.
Other than opening the windows, Ace and I did nothing today. Well, we had sex, but nothing else. It was nice to relax all day. We need more days like this too.

A Day Early?
Most of the day today, I've felt like it's Sunday. I think my desire for Thursday to be here is messing with my head. Ace being at work today should be a rather obvious reminder that it's Saturday, but...
Other than being off on what day of the week it is, this has been a fairly relaxing day. I've not had a lot to do (laundry, which is washed and dried, and relaxing).
Ace and I are excited about his shift change next month. He'll be working four 10 hour days instead of five 8 hour days. It will mean that when the shift changes he'll have worked 7 days in a row before his first days off, but then there are three days for us to do errands, him to do any real estate stuff, and us to relax. It should be nicer.
Of course, with me finishing up my current job Wednesday, we'll be able to spend time with each other everyday before Ace goes to work. We're looking forward to that too. We've had an hour each of the last two days to just relax in bed and talk. We enjoy getting to spend time talking about anything and everything, which is exactly what that time was. We haven't had that kind of close together time enough lately. I'm pretty sure that we both miss it (I know that I do, I'm fairly certain Ace does too).
Well, I guess I've rambled on enough about random things.

The Soundtrack of My Life
I was thinking earlier that my life seems to have certain songs that seem more important at the time than others.
2 years ago, when I was somewhat searching for a reason to finally cut a good portion of the ties with my mother, it was "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash. I felt like that relationship was imprisoning me. Not a pretty picture, I know, but that's where I was.
Right now, I guess my song would be back to "The Dance" by Garth Brooks (my soundtrack is almost always country music, because that is mostly what I listen to). It's a good reminder to me that while I'd like to go back and change the things that made me hurt, I really wouldn't want to change all the good things that happened along the way that would definitely change with changing the bad.
Sometimes, the song that sticks out is "Naked" by Avril Lavigne. Mostly, that's how I feel around Ace. He makes me feel like I've stripped off whatever I've got for protection, and I'm finally seeing me again. I find it comforting to know he cares deeply for me and it helps keep me from feeling extremely vulnerable. I know that he won't attack me, so I can fully let my guard down.
For several years, before I met Ace, my song seemed to be "Someone Else's Star" by Bryan White. I felt like I was doing everything I could to find the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with but everyone else was finding their person instead. It was hard, because no matter how happy I was for others, I was hurting and trying not to be jealous (I'm glad I waited though).

And Then Things Got Better
Plus, a bonus weird piece of mail I got today.
I spent an hour with Ace and now I'm feeling less stressed. It's been a busy week and we haven't had much time to just be alone together with nothing else to do. We're going to try to spend an hour (or more!) together again tomorrow.
In my snail mail today, I got an offer for something I certainly don't need. It was an offer to make my pen*s longer. As I don't have one, it was certainly ridiculous. And Ace doesn't need it. Of course, that reminded me of one set of spam I forgot to mention earlier. The spam offering me pen*s enhancers or imp*tence drugs. As a woman, I find that spam the most curious of all, because it is offering me something completely useless to me.

Where Does the Stress Come From?
Okay, I have 4 days left at a job I'm not in love with. I'm going to be able to only work if I want to. And yet, I feel like screaming to get rid of all this stress I'm feeling right this second.
Where did this stress come from? Can it go back there now?
Time seems to be moving extremely slowly right now. And that is just making it worse.
I'm going to find something to distract myself with, because there has to be something better than feeling randomly stressed out.

A Look at Spam
Today, I'm going to take you through a look at my spam. Because there are apparently a lot of people I've never met who are extremely concerned about me.
1. Clean out your colon - If I believe the subject line of these e-mails (based on frequency), I have a very dirty colon. I'm not sure what it's been doing without my knowledge, but I supposedly have things all blocked up (or at least it's not all coming out).
2. I need to get out of debt - Okay, this one is true, but there are better was than by using something sent to me when I haven't requested any information from them.
3. I want a job as a (fill in the blank) - Um, no I don't. If things go like they are looking like they will go, I'll be able to be a housewife again quickly and out of debt within the year (which takes care of #2).
4. Someone in Africa wants me to have a lot of money - Despite what I've been lead to believe by reputable sources, Africa is really full of rich, recently-deceased men who want to rain their money down on me. If only I didn't know that this is a scam.
5. I want free electronics - Okay, this one is true too, but I doubt that these unsolicited e-mails are going to do any more for me than the get out of debt ones.
6. I want free gift cards to (fill in the blank) - Since these always seem to generate even more spam, I doubt it. And I don't think I'd actually get the gift card either.
And there you have a brief look at my spam.

Is It the 23rd Yet?
I'm ready for my job to be over. So so ready. There aren't enough words to express how ready I am to leave this job.
And it's not like I can pinpoint one particular thing as being bad. It just wasn't the best day.
Yeah, that's pretty much it at this point. I'm just ready for it to be next Wednesday (1 week, 1 day, I'm fairly sure I can easily handle it, but still).

F*CK
Ace and I are watching a movie called F*ck (without the *, I think). It is, of course, about the f word (which I'm fine with saying, but I'd rather not have those kind of hits on this blog). We've got the counter on, and when the movie ends I'll let you know how many times the word is said in this movie (it's already over 700).
The main thing that is interesting is the debate in this documentary/interview about whether or not f*ck should be free speech or if it should be censored. I am on the side of it being free speech. (Total count, according to the movie, is 825 times.) It's not that I want to use the word all the time, but I'd like to have the ability to do so.
Yeah, um, that's all I have to say about that. I'm out of words on this subject for now.

Visiting My Sister
Today, I did something I haven't done before. I got together with my sister for a few hours. We sat in an IHOP for a couple of hours and talked (Ace and I ate, she had coffee). We tried to find things to talk about besides our parents, which was only slightly awkward. It was nice, mostly just to be around her. Maybe the next time we get together we should have some activity to keep us slightly busy. Something to distract us so we can focus on that when we aren't talking.
I know we both miss the other one when we're apart, but we aren't sure what to say when we're together. I guess that's normal for siblings who are as far apart in age as we are. It just feels odd and awkward.
She did have a suggestion on what hair-dye I should get to dye my hair red. We bought a box, and after I finish with my current temp job (8 more days!), I'll try it out.
I should be feeling sexy again by then (I started my period today, so I'm not feeling the least bit attractive right now). Right now, I'm fairly satisfied with how today went, even if it was awkward at times, because it's a good start. And my sister knows that she's welcome (invited even) to visit whenever she can.
I'll keep you updated with how that goes.

The Sign of a Good Show
The sign of a good show is that they can make you feel like you've got a good grip on the characters and then suddenly reveal large portions of their back story and make you realize you only knew a very small part of them (and you still don't know a whole lot even with the big reveals). It will change how you look at everyone, while still keeping them in the same light they've always been in (if that makes any sense to you, congratulations).
I'm finding more sympathy for all the characters in Torchwood. I loved all the characters before finding out their back stories, but I seem to care for them more knowing more about them (isn't that always the way with people). It makes the idea of something happening to them even harder to bear.
Of course, I know that it's likely something will happen. And that will hurt. It reminds me of, well, any Joss Wheden show. Just as soon as everything seems to be going right for the characters, something bad happens (usually something horrible). And it made me hate the writers (especially Joss) while perversely loving them (especially Joss) for giving me such a wonderful show. The pain of the characters was real, it hurt the viewers. The joy was just as real, and it brought joy to the viewers. Of course, I realize that people would stop watching if everything was going well. People like seeing the pain, mainly because we like seeing the people get past whatever is causing it and fight for the right.
And for that, I will endure the pain of the characters. Because as they push past their pain, it reminds me to do that in my own life. And it helps me to know that in these shows, ultimately good will win over evil. It may include loss on the part of the good (and that hurts), but in the end good will triumph. And isn't that really what we're all looking for in the end? Doesn't that provide us all with a little bit of comfort?
I'm off to find comfort in good triumphing other places. Because it makes me smile.

I'm Hot
Or My Brain Has Gone to Being Random and I'm Blaming My Random Body Temperature Issues.
I have been randomly warm for most of the past week. I'm not sure what's happened, but suddenly, I'm finding it hard to find a comfortable temperature for me, because the few times I'm not feeling hot, I'm feeling cold. This sucks!
I took a nap today that lasted roughly 2 and 1/2 hours. It was nice, and helped me maintain my good mood. But I didn't think I was quite that tired before I took that nap (I did notice that I was feeling sleepy, but it was after lunch and I thought that might have something to do with it).
My DVR was recording something from 8 this morning until 4 this afternoon. 7 episodes of Doctor Who, which should be quite a bit of Season 2 (which I've seen like 2 episodes of) and an episode of The People's Court (which I've already watched tonight).
While we were at the mall, Ace and I wondered who would buy Paris Hilton's perfume. We didn't think it was women of high moral character, I can tell you that already (I believe the word skank was used).
I think that's enough randomness for now.

Lately, I feel like my emotions have been kind of like a storm, specifically a thunderstorm. There's been lots of hard, heavy, strange emotions. I've had a reprieve for a little while this week, but today it all came crashing back.
I feel brittle, like any little thing could set off a bad chain reaction emotionally today. And if frustrates me, because I'm stronger than that. And I don't want to be fighting myself again. I'm not quite ready for that yet.
I'm getting annoyed at little things that don't normally bother me, which 10 years ago I would have figured it was PMS, but today I feel frustrated with my own since of frustration. I dislike being so annoyed by things that are only slightly annoying, and really more of a bother.
Mostly, I'm just ready for this storm to pass, so I can get back to normal. I miss it.
But for now, I'm feeling brittle and stressed and I hate it. And I'm trying to be patient while waiting out this storm.

Beautiful Words
Today, I heard some of the most beautiful words I could ever have heard from my boss. He said that he would like me to work for roughly the next two weeks and then he's got someone for that position permanently (he'll get back to me soon about the exact date he won't need me any more but it should be by the end of the month!). I've been ready to leave this job for a while now. He is thinking of having me come in occasionally to work, but that would be up to me (if I'm available).
So, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and things are starting to happen quickly after all the waiting that I've been doing. Which means this has been a good week (what with the car and now the job thing). It's kind of an exciting time, all the anticipating.
I'm going back to watching I Love the 80s 3D, because I think it's funny.

Love Is...
Love is touching someone else's dirty socks. At least it is for me. Dirty socks gross me out. So, the fact that I'm willing to touch his socks at all is a true testament to how much I love him.
Love is cooking meals for each other. Ace does this for me all the time. I know he doesn't always want to cook for me, but he does. I do, on rare occasion, cook for him too. But that doesn't happen often, mainly because I taught him how to cook so that I wouldn't have to.
Love is adjusting your schedule to accommodate each other. I would really like to do things at one time, but usually that can't happen (that should be less of a problem now that we have 2 cars, but we'll see). Since my schedule is looser, I'm usually changing it for Ace. But we both are willing to adjust what we're doing for the other one.
This is what I have so far. I'm sure I'll add more statements of what love is as different things happen in my life. If you want to share what love is to you, leave a comment. It may get used sometime in the future for another Love is...

And It Only Took a Week!
Guess what we've got. Come on guess.
Okay, I can't wait for you to guess, because I'm too excited (I can barely type). We got ourselves a second car! It's a maroon Taurus with just over 65500 miles on it. It's beautiful and should last us a while. It was the car we were waiting to find out about and thought had been sold, but hadn't.
So, if you're in Tulsa, go to Dean Bailey for used cars. All the cars look good (no dents, scratches, etc.). You can buy a warranty for the car. And they don't pressure you for a sale (the guy who sold us this car, which has yet to be named, didn't get a commission on it so that we could buy it at a price we could afford).
So, I'm going to try to figure out what to call my new (to me) car (I call it mine because we intend for me to be the one doing most of the driving of it). Our mechanic looked impressed with our find, which is a good sign that it shouldn't need any work for a while. Pretty good for a car that's over 10 years old.
And now, I'm going to go back to enjoying what I'm watching.

Sometimes, It Stops Hurting
After my post yesterday, I feel hesitant to post today. Not because I still feel that way, I'm feeling much better today and much more in tune with the good things in my life. But I feel like I should give it a couple of day sitting there to show how out of control I felt.
And at the same time, part of me would like to delete it because who thinks things like that? What does that mean about my mental health? Why did it happen?
But, I won't. Because it's honest. I hope you can feel how raw I felt when I wrote it. How vulnerable. How much I needed to get that off my chest.
I started this blog trying to find a voice for what I had silenced in the past. Things I didn't want my extended family to know about, because I didn't want them to worry. So, I need to keep this blog honest to what is happening, as much as I am willing to share (because there are still some things that are private). I started this blog for posts just like that post (as well as all the posts where I mention sex).
Some of the blogs I like to read the most are the ones who are willing to write about things that are personal. Things that they probably wonder who else thinks that, what it shows the world. And I admire their honesty, even if I wince at what they are feeling or thinking. Because we all have thoughts that we wish we didn't.
I'm not saying I'm all better and I'll never have problems like that again, I'm just saying that sometimes, it stops hurting and becomes slightly easier.
And I'll cling to easier for as long as I can.

Sometimes, It Just Hurts
I've let myself drift farther from happiness. And it happened so slowly, I didn't realize that it was happening. And then yesterday, I something happened that made me realize that I'd drifted out really far.
I knew something wasn't quite right. I've lacked a desire for anything other than getting my way. I lacked a desire to get up in the mornings. I lacked a desire to go to bed at night. And it mentally hurt to do anything. I was depressed without feeling very sad. So, now I'm fighting it.
Yesterday, I had a small desire to jump out of the car while Ace was driving (he was going slow enough that I'd have lived, but I'd have been somewhat seriously injured), because part of me would have rather gone to a hospital than go back to that conference today. And that scared me, because I know that's not normal. I don't feel like jumping out of cars ever.
So, Ace and I talked last night. I told him about that desire (he was happy that I'd resisted it, as am I because I'm a pussy when it comes to pain). And we decided that I could stay home today and try to get closer to God again, because he can fix me and I need to be fixed.
A big part of me wants to hesitate on posting this, because I'm not sure if I come across as someone needing some serious help or as someone who had a really bad day and just needs to get that sent out. But I'm going to post it, because I want to be honest. And someday, it might help someone.
But right now, I'm ready for it to stop hurting.
I'm going to go. I'm going to try watching something funny to see if that helps.

Can Someone Lower the Stress in My Body Please
Today, Ace ended up dragging me to the second half of today's training. And now I'm feeling slightly stressed about whether or not I should go tomorrow. Oddly, all that stress is coming from me at this point.
It didn't help that today I broke out bawling twice because I wasn't sure what kind of shirt to wear. Yeah, I'm not sure why I was so emotionally involved in shirt choices. I'm blaming my hormones. And the fact that I was expecting to get all weekend off and suddenly I was being asked to do something I wasn't wanting to.
I'd rather stay home the rest of the weekend. Ace would rather I go. And so, I'm feeling stressed about whether to make him happy or to make me happy.
I'm so not excited right now. In fact, I'm rather tired. So, I'm going to go and relax.

In Like a Lamb, Out Like a Lion
March in Oklahoma is interesting. We started the month off with nice warm, calm weather. The month ended with rainstorms. It was backwards from the cliche.
Of course the big statement about Oklahoma weather is "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes, it'll change." Sometimes it does change that quickly, but usually it doesn't.
In addition to being in the Bible belt (I now live in the buckle of the Bible belt, where there are multiple churches within one mile of my house), Oklahoma is also in the middle of Tornado Alley. I actually seem to be in less danger living in Tulsa than I was in the Oklahoma City Metro area. I'm not sure when the last tornado hit Tulsa, but we haven't had too many tornado warnings (warnings mean tornadoes are likely, watches mean they conditions are there for tornadoes to happen) since I've moved here. And March through May are the big times for tornadoes to hit (followed by September to November).
I'd like to live somewhere without a tornado season sometime (if possible), but I'm not sure where that would be.
Okay, I'm going back to watching Whose Line, because it's funny.

The Search Continues
Today, we looked again for a second car (we aren't married to it being a car, but it's easier to call it that for now). It didn't go so well. We looked at a car that smelled of cigarette smoke, a truck that couldn't make it out of the lot (it kept dying before we could get off the lot for a test drive), and found out that we have to wait one more day before we may have a car to drive to our mechanic to have checked out. And those were all at different locations. We apparently chose the wrong week to start looking for a car, as we keep hearing that maybe next week there'll be more options to choose from.
So, we wait and I try to remember it's not a big deal if we don't get a second car soon, we still have plenty of time to be able to be a little picky. Plus, if we wait longer, we may be able to get a nicer car. I know all this, but it doesn't change the fact that I don't want to wait.
I think it's because I'm waiting for so much lately that it seems like just one thing too many. Because I'm starting to get a little impatient for time to pass. And my whininess is bothering even me.
Okay, I'm going to go back to watching Whose Line is it Anyway? and reading nursery rhymes. Because those things obviously go together right?

Lessons From Working Retail
Now that I've stopped working retail for a month, I've got some lessons people who do work retail would probably love to share with their customers (at least, I always wanted to share them).
1. Please stop leaving things across the store from where you picked it up. The products don't have legs, which means they don't return themselves. I could have sworn some days that our products grew legs and moved themselves to various parts of the store.
2. Sometimes we wonder how you got dressed this morning. Mainly because you ask questions that seem to have rather obvious answers. We understand that you may not get the sales posters/fliers/coupons, but how much plain English do we have to interpret? When it says if you buy x you get y, it should be easy to understand.
3. Sometimes we wonder if you actually looked at anything before asking us questions. When there is a big wall of what your looking for and you completely miss it, we start wanting to answer sarcastically, because hello! big wall full of what you are looking for right over there!.
4. If we walk away without assisting you, it may be to control our impulse to roll our eyes or get snippy with you. We're trying not to get fired, but you are making it difficult.
5. Walking up to us to complain that the sale isn't good enough makes us (or at least me) want to roll our eyes. Our store didn't have to have this sale, so you should be happy. I don't really care what the sale was last time, this isn't last time. And your complaining about it before is what had me moving away from you without assisting you in the first place (no, I'm not still frustrated about that, why do you ask?).
6. Sometimes, we don't care about looking in the back for some product. We already know it's not there (we've looked not that long ago), but we'll humor you just in case we missed it last time.
7. If the store is crowded, it's going to take longer to look in the back and get back to you. Mainly because at least one other person will stop us on our way to check asking about something else. We aren't necessarily happy about that, and it may cause us to forget what exactly you look like. It may take 3 or 4 times as long to get back to you because of this.
8. If the store is crowded, please don't wander away from where you were when you asked, it will be harder to give you an answer to your question, because it's harder to find someone you're not completely sure who they are and they aren't where you left them. I understand you are curious about what else we have, but you may never get your answer that way. Exception: if you are moving toward where we have to go look in the back and ask us again as soon as we get back out into the store, we will not be upset with you.
Okay, that's all I have for now. If only I could have thought of two more. Oh well.
TTFN!
Update: I thought of two more, so now it's a nice round ten.
9. This is slightly more of a seasonal complaint, but if the store (and mall) is going to close in 5 minutes, please don't come in and wander around for an hour before leaving without buying anything. There is only so much the people working can do to get ready to close while there are still customers in the store, and we all have been working for a while and are looking forward to going home. Some of us have kids to get home to. Some of us have a dog who is waiting to go out. Some of us would like to let the dog out before we have to go pick up our spouse from their job, and you are seriously making us wonder if we'll get to. And some of us are just plain tired and didn't really want to come in at all today. If you are just looking, do us a favor and come back during normal business hours (the closer Christmas came, the worse this was since the mall was open later).
10. If you walk past after closing and the store is still open because there are customers inside, please don't come in unless you know what you are getting and are going to leave quickly. Otherwise, you are being even more annoying than the ones who came in while we were still in normal operating hours.
In case you're wondering why this is such a big deal, retailers don't normally sweep, empty the trash cans, or close the registers when there are still customers in the store (Wal-Mart being an exception, because they are usually open 24-7). Closing the registers takes longer than you would think (it seems to takeat least 30 minutes for 4 registers), and someone has to stay with the manager until that's done, even if everyone else gets to leave.
Yeah, that's it.

We're Searching
We've started searching for a second car. We're looking mostly because our lives would be easier with two cars. It's been an interesting afternoon/evening (which is exactly how long we've been looking). We're going to keep looking.
This is going to be an interesting week, I can tell already.
And that's all I have to say about it tonight. In fact, I think it's all I have to say tonight.

What Do I Miss?
I'm listening to Trace Adkins sing about what your going to miss as you move on with your life. And so far, I don't miss any particular part of my life that I've passed.
I enjoyed high school, but I don't really miss it. And I definitely wouldn't go back if you asked me to. It wasn't bad, but there isn't anything I really want to go back and relive. It wasn't a time that I miss.
I enjoyed being newly married, but I'm happy that I'm past that first year. We had lots of things to talk about then that could easily have become fights if we hadn't been careful. And nothing about that time is particularly near and dear to me. I wasn't close to people I am now, and I regularly saw people I didn't want to.
I'm not a mom yet, but I'm looking forward to that. And I'm fairly sure I will miss every part of that when the kids grow and change. But so far, it's something I'm looking forward to.
I miss seeing certain members of my family, that's what I miss. I miss getting to see everyone for Christmas and Thanksgiving. I miss hearing the arguments among my uncles. They argue about anything, and I think they are on the same side of the argument half the time. And all the females only half listen to what they are arguing about, mostly just enough to find out the topic before going back to more reasonable topics.
I miss seeing my friends from college. I miss the fun times we had in college. I miss having the stresses I had then instead of the stresses I have now. I miss silly jokes that the guys didn't get and making up a pretend band and having girls' nights out.
I miss seeing my best friend from high school, YzArC. And yes, I have a good reason for calling her that (it's what she requested and how she signed the map). I miss the long phone calls we have (it's been a while since we've spoken). I miss playing cards with her at lunch. I miss dressing up for her themed birthday parties. But mostly, I just miss spending time with her.
I guess it's not so much the times I miss from my past as much as the people. They helped me to become who I am now. And I like who I am now.
I'm going to go, because I think I've been deep enough for one night. Besides, I've got to get ready for when Ace comes home, because according to the stick I peed on earlier, I'm going to ovulate in the next 24 to 36 hours, so we'll be having sex.
TTFN!

Something I Don't Recommend
Last night, I was moving my laundry from the washer to the dryer. Over those machines are some built-in shelves over it, which is normally rather nice for holding laundry stuff and a few other various things. But it wasn't so nice when I momentarily forgot about them and hit my head really hard on it when I was finishing moving the laundry over.
I haven't felt 100% since. In fact, the best I've gotten is about 60%, or possibly 75%. On the plus side, I've caught up on some missed sleep and I got a couple of meals brought to me by Ace. But I'd rather have more energy and less pain.
I don't recommend bumping your head. And hopefully soon I'll be back to normal (I miss having a calm stomach).

I Dream of Amy (She's Got Blonde Hair)
I dreamt of Amalah last night. And in my dream, we were friends. Good friends. And she was hoping with me that I would get pregnant so we could be pregnant together. I'm not sure she liked me being ready for the possibility that I wouldn't be pregnant.
So, I'm getting onto myself in my dreams through other people who have never met me and don't really know that I exist. Because I am just that obsessed.
Ace and I have been talking about baby names already. Because I've got him slightly obsessed too. Mostly on what we will name our potential children.
And now I have to go watch a kid be adorable in a music video, because that's how I roll these days.

Peeing on Sticks and Assorted Stuff
This week, starting yesterday, I am peeing on a stick once a day. I'm trying to find out when I'm likely to be ovulating. Because we're obsessed with becoming parents.
To add to the likelihood that I'll get pregnant, we got me new clothes yesterday, and I stocked up on feminine hygiene products during my last period. Which means I could easily get pregnant this month to make all this stuff just useless for a little while, which would make me extremely happy.
Oh, you want to know about these new clothes? I've got 3 new pairs of jeans, 3 new shirts (which are loose and slightly stretchy around the belly, so they could be worn for at least part of a pregnancy), and a cute new skirt (also loose around the belly, and dressy enough for work while still being relaxed looking for time off).
Ace bought me the shirts, which I didn't necessarily strictly need, because he decided that I need to show off my chest more. And I am more than happy to get new clothing.
Okay, I have laundry that is calling out to me that I really need to put it in the machines to get it all clean.

The Perfect Response
Guys, if a woman asks you if she looks fat in her jeans, the best response is "To me, you are perfect."
That's better than chocolate, and it's healthier for our thighs.
That is all.

Housekeeping May Kill Me Someday
Today, Ace and I had a couple of lovely times where we were running around trying to clean up our living room, dining room/kitchen, and bathroom. We're having people come over, and we want our place to actually look like we keep things tidy and organized. Because no one we actually know should realize that we live like normal humans and haven't got everything organized yet.
Yes, we are complicated people who need to actually live what we like to show. Um, we're trying, but it's taking us a little while to get things put back up and organized again. On the plus side, we've almost got all of our dishes clean again (everything but what little is in our dishwasher, it's somewhat exciting). Our bathrooms have been cleaned. Basically, our house looks nice.
As nice as it is to get everything somewhat cleaned up, it's tiring. I'd like to rest for a long time, but we have people coming over tonight, otherwise things would still be as they had been. Which is the long way to say, I like having people over, but all the work of it may make me drop someday.

Writing About Growing Up Is Hard To Do
I've said before (somewhere, I know) that growing up is hard to do. And it is. But writing about it seems to be harder. Or more writing about grown up things is harder. It's more personal, and makes me feel more vulnerable.
I hate feeling vulnerable, because I felt that way for way too many years. It hurts to allow others to see my "soft underbelly" for lack of a better term. My heart is no where near hard, but I'm normally able to write about things and not care about their reaction. But yesterday, I wrote (where my family could see it, i.e.: not here) about not being angry with my mother anymore, and how I'm trying not to bottle up my anger any more. So far, I've not had any reactions. Of course, it could be because no one has read it yet. But it could be because they don't believe it.
The waiting is hard.
Today, while talking with Ace, I realized my biggest problem with my mother was that she didn't seem to want to let me have my own opinion about things. Do you know how hard it is to get through life stifling your opinion on everything? It was eating me up. And I've changed so much on so many things since I stopped talking to her. I'm more relaxed, more open to ideas, less stopped up emotionally.
And yet, I'm still feeling vulnerable when it comes to expressing myself in public on most things. I'm starting to want to scream about it. It's silly, and I know most people either don't care or want me to express myself, but it's an ingrained habit to not say anything.
I'm going to go. The dishes in the sink won't wash themselves. Besides, I think I've expressed myself enough for now. And here, it doesn't leave me feeling vulnerable. It's nice.

A Night In
Tonight, I'm spending the evening with the movie Love Actually. Which is nice, because I've been trying to see this movie since this past Christmas, at least. Which is when it would probably been a little more appropriate. But now is when I finally get to see it.
If you want my opinion on love, which you obviously do since you're still reading what I'm writing, here it is: Love is. It just is.
And that's all I have for now. I'll go back to watching my movie, which is more interesting right now.

Things Do Get Better
I apparently really needed the hug and the chocolate, because not too long after getting them I started feeling better about life. I really wish sometimes that I wasn't quite so empathetic towards other people (mostly when I feel down without actually going through the event that is making me upset). It's not so much that I don't want to care about others, I just don't want to feel what they feel all the time.
I think I've just figured out why I enjoy reading novels and escapist literature more than non-fiction. There is less emotions attached to the fiction. And I need less emotion much of the time. My emotions seem to run on high most of the time, and it's tiring.
Ace and I were talking the other day about whether or not we thought that maybe being tired was in some way painful, a question partly brought about by the fact that I start getting sarcastic when I'm tired and when I'm in pain. I think there is some kind of connection between tiredness and pain, but not physical pain. I think it's more emotional pain. Of course, this is just my best guess.
I'm going to relax some more, because I can.

Needing a Break
After my not so happy post Monday (I got over it with funny TV and time with Ace, not alcohol, which is a lot healthier), my week hasn't fully gotten better. Today, I'm looking up information about widows and trying to find out how they cope with their loss. Yeah, I'm not feeling to up right now. Have I ever mentioned that I'm entirely too empathetic?
The wonderful sun, which I've missed lately, isn't even helping right now. I think I'm going to go home (I'm still at work!), find some chocolate and a hug from Ace. Maybe then I'll start feeling up again.

How Long?
How long do I have to answer questions about when I'm going to have kids? (So far, the answer hasn't changed. "We're trying," and a thought of 'not that it's any of your business' for anyone but our tax guy.) Probably until we have kids.
How many times can one hear that question before feeling like there is something wrong with them? I don't know, but I'm starting to feel that way. Over 4 and 1/2 years of marriage, without anything to prevent pregnancy, and I'm still not a mother. And the person I should be talking to this about is in a meeting about real estate, so I'm stuck talking to the internet.
How long do I wait before breaking out the alcohol and seeing if getting tipsy makes me feel better? I'm thinking about 30 minutes, if I can last that long.
How much do I wish I were someone else? There aren't the words.

In Praise of Pajama Bottoms
I actually came to praise pajama bottoms and Midol. But I'd rather not mention pain medication in the title of a post. At least not until I've got something stronger than Midol in my system.
I went to sleep last night, knowing I should take a Midol, but figuring that I wasn't cramping yet, maybe I'd sleep deep enough to sleep through quite a bit of the pain. That worked for roughly 3 and 1/2 hours, and then I woke up in some serious pain.
The thing about pain with me, I get more descriptive and imaginative when I'm in pain. The pain was bad. I think it would have hurt less if someone had kicked me in the stomach, but I eventually got the pain relief I was seeking.
This morning, I woke up without pain. It was nice. Of course, that was ruined by the necessity of wearing pants that weren't my pajama bottoms (which have a nice elastic waist, so they don't hurt my tender muscles). I didn't stay long at work (1 hour, and then I was more than ready to leave for the week). I changed back into my pajama bottoms as soon as I got back home and into the bedroom.
I've only changed out of them once, and only for lunch (I was wanting steak, so we went and had steak. I ate the whole steak and most of my sides, which is more than I expected to eat). And as soon as we got back home, I changed back into my pajama bottoms. Since I have no plans to go anywhere for the rest of today, I plan on staying in them until I'm forced to get dressed sometime this weekend.
Oh, and we got our federal tax refund today. We're very excited (and it contributed to us going out to lunch).
In summary, I'm content with Midol and pajama bottoms, and not wanting to see pants again until sometime tomorrow.

Does Ace Really Love Me?
I think my husband is trying to kill me. Not literally, but we've been running around like crazy between our work hours. And I'm starting to feel like I'm dragging. I'm ready to for time off and I don't want to do anything on Saturday, if at all possible.
And to answer my own question. Yes, my husband loves me. I'm just not sure he realizes that I'm starting to feel really tired. And my over-active hope gland (I'm starting to believe that most of my hope comes from a glad or something, otherwise, why do I feel so hopeful month after month?) is pushing me to wonder if it's not something else creating this drag.
Mostly, I think it's that I've partially gotten used to the idea that I get to come home and relax for most of the rest of my day, but we've actually been doing stuff.
By the way, I don't fully remember what I did Tuesday, other than read a book until way to late. It's all a little fuzzy.
And now, I think I'm going to play Scrabble again (Ace bought it for me yesterday while we were at Office Depot sending off stuff via UPS). He got Monopoly (2 semi-different copies, but we're going to trade one in on Jeopardy for me). I'm content with my wonderful husband, even if all our running around is taking so much out of me.

Busy
Today, I was busy. So was Ace. After I got off work, Ace and I had several errands to run that kept us busy for a couple hours. We had to send some paper work off, pick my engagement ring up from being fixed (the diamond was loose, so I haven't been able to wear it for a while). Then, we had to go make a payment. Then we finally ate lunch. And lastly, we had to go mail off some tax forms (not our personal taxes, those were filed electronically, and we've already got one of our refunds back).
It would have been easier on both of us if we hadn't been rather tired to start off with. We stopped by Quick Trip (a wonderful convenience store/gas station in Tulsa) and got some energy drinks (the ones that don't have caffeine or a ton of sugar). Since I had that, I've been feeling good (more awake, which is good since I stayed up reading way too late last night [5:30 this morning! with needing to get up by 8:30.]) and full of energy. It's been odd, but nice.
I'm going to go. I've got something around here I should be doing, I'm sure (probably sleeping).

Yesterday, It Seems So Far Away
Dude, today was a long day (no, make that a loooooooooooooooong day). I know I've said that not so long ago (um, Thursday, I believe), but today was at least as long.
Now back to my original topic. Yesterday, Ace and I went to the Tulsa Home and Garden Show. I'm even attaching pictures, if I can figure out how.

This is our map, which is marked with the booths Ace wanted to see.

Swag at our bank's booth. We got some of that loot.

This was 1/3 of one aisle. There was just too much too see, but we weren't trying to see it all.

Okay, this is my last picture for today. It's the very interesting booth of Signs Now, which can make signs to go on pretty much anything (including the VW bug in the background, where the guy is pulling off part of the sign). Also, I should mention that the theme of the show was The Wizard of Oz, which was mainly shown by 3 cool looking sand sculptures.
Well, I'm going to go. I've got other things to do, like get ready for shopping at Wal-Mart.

I'm Cold
Or I Miss the Warm Days of Not So Long Ago, Because the Cold Makes My Mind Go Random Places (You can see why I chose I'm Cold as the main title, no?)
Oklahoma weather is crazy. We'll go from nice 60 degree days down to 40 degree days and back to 60 degree days in the span of two weeks (the forecast for next week shows lots of 60 degree days!). And I dislike the 40 degree days. Or more, I hate my body's reaction, because I seem to have problems getting warm (I doubt my smoothie today helped matters much though).
Am I bad for not wanting to watch anything on Animal Planet? Do you think that will change when I have kids? And why wasn't the show How It's Made around when I was younger? It's really interesting.
How much do you think people get paid for squeezing out eggs and sperm from Rainbow trout? Because I think it would probably be a decent amount, or at least it should be.
Ace and I are thinking of going to OKC to see the Human Body exhibit while it's at the Omniplex. I've heard it's really cool (except the pregnancy ones, which made most of the people I've heard about it from wince and/or cry).
Okay, I think I've reached the random length I'd like this post to be, so I'll go now.

Is It Friday Yet?
Today was a long day (actually, it was a loooooooooong day). And the long part ended at 1:30, when I left work. I'm wishing it was Friday though. I'd like to be done for the week.
Tonight is a TV and alcohol night.
On the plus side, a nice bubble bath earlier helped me feel more human again. But I still am back to my normal emotional state.
I'm going to go back to vegging.

My (Sort of) Best Week Ever
This week has been pretty good. Monday, we got our news on our taxes. It's big, very big. On the plus side, it's big in our favor. We're seeing a very bright future coming up.
Yesterday (which was Tuesday, if you aren't paying attention), I had an extremely easy day at work (I did today too). I finally got my boss e-mailed so that he realizes that he needs to find someone permanent for the position I'm working right now. I felt odd sending that e-mail and I was uneasy somewhat last night.
Today, I found out that my boss was fine with my e-mail, and didn't know some of what I had to say in it before hand (or he didn't remember from 4 months or so ago). But, he was mostly happy to find that out now, while he still has time to make his decisions. I just hope he got the minor point in the e-mail that I'm not the right person for the job permanently.
Well, I need to go. I've got ads to look through for items for my vision boards.

It Was His Best Day Ever (And Then He Took a Bath)
Yesterday, Guillermo was in doggy heaven, or he at least had teh best day evar!!11!!!1 for dogs. He got to go on two trips (he went with Ace to get lunch, and we took him to PetSmart). He got a new collar, leash, two toys, and shampoo. I'm not sure he would be so excited about the last one. While we were shopping, he got attention from people who will probably never see him again. He got petted by two other customers, and the cashier emptied out her treat bowl feeding him treats.
And then in the evening, he took a bath. But then he got brushed, which I know he likes. He got treats too. And then, while Ace and I were grocery shopping, we got him another new toy and some treats for training him.
So, yeah. It was Guillermo's best day ever!

My Latest Obsession
I've got to share my latest obsession. It's not taken the place of getting pregnant, but it has added to my inner neat freak (which isn't as picky as it tries to seem). I'm quickly becoming enamored with the show Clean House.
4 people (the host, a designer, a yard sale expert, and a carpenter) show up to the house (in L.A.) and help people de-clutter 3 rooms, have a yard sale, and then give them newly decorated rooms, which so far I've found gorgeous every time (so has Ace).
My home, while not fully clutter free, is still rather neat and clean. Ace and I occasionally have to go back and get rid of stuff, but it's usually not a very time-consuming task. And we both feel much better when we get done (freer). It's nice.
So, yeah. That's it for now.

An Orgy of Flavors
I've been eating a lot of food lately. I'm still not sure why, but I've been eating like I've been starving myself (except the past two evenings, when I've been giving my back a break and not moving it, which leads to not eating as much). So, lately it's been an orgy of flavors in my mouth. And almost everything tastes better than it has before.
I've been eating Fritos with bean dip, ice cream, fruit cups, chocolate, candy, chips, and larger meals than normal. And I've been enjoying it.
Well, I'm going to go. I've not really got anything else to say.

Dreaming Improbable Dreams
Last night, I dreamt, which I know is not unusual in itself, but I dreamt that I met Bryan White. Which I would actually like to do in person. (If you don't know who Bryan White is, either Google him, or e-mail me at a_masmith@yahoo.com). It was cool, except he still looked like he did 10 years ago, which is unlikely, and neither of us was married (where as, as far as I know, we both are married in real life). There was a potential relationship going on, which has left me feeling odd, because I wouldn't leave Ace for anyone, but it was kind of nice to be pursued/flirted with by someone I think of as a celebrity.
That was the dream I'd like to have part of come true. My other dream, not so much. It involved my sister dying in a car crash, and me nearly dying too. I'd rather us both live long, healthy lives. And it was all I could do at 4 this morning to keep from calling her and making sure she was fine. But I realized it was a dream, she has school, I have work, and I should settle down and just go back to sleep. Actually, the dream about my sister got mentioned in the dream about Bryan White (as if they were all part of the same dream). While I disliked the dream, it has made me want to know more about my sister. So, something good has come out of it.
The only other news I have is that it's interesting what things people search for that land them here. I had someone get here with a search for Serial killers are sexy (because of my post on Dexter). Yeah. Um. I hope that person found what they were looking for.

Being Annoyed
Today, I seem to be rather touchy. I'm feeling annoyed by almost everything. In fact, I'm purposely not with Ace right now, because I got annoyed by the fact that he only wanted to listen to preaching and not even offer to let me watch TV. Because I'm so important or something? I don't know. I think it's just stress from work bleeding over into my home life.
And it's frustrating to me, because I was so happy yesterday and I was so happy when I woke up today, and now I'm just touchy. And annoyed by little things.
I know the things I should do to release the stress (deep breathing, take a bath, read, watch something funny), but I'm not sure I'm up for any of that right now.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I feel a little better now. I think part of my frustration is that Ace is not doing what I want him to, which is kind of selfish of me. It's just that I wanted him to help me with some things, and he doesn't seem to care. He just wants to lay, with his eyes closed, and listen to preaching. And I just want to scream.
Help me!

Sunny Days!
Out comes the sun, and warm weather, and out comes my sunny nature. I feel happy, excited, and at peace. I really need to find somewhere that it's sunny and warm almost every day and move there. It makes me much happier and makes me fun to be around.
Does it stay in the mid-60s down in south Texas in the winter? I should research that.
Have I mentioned that it's nice to see the sun yet? I've missed it, what with all the cloud cover we've had lately. It's not the cold that depresses me in the winter/early spring/late fall, but the clouds. It's okay for a day or two, but after that I need the sun to come back out.
But today is nice and sunny and unseasonably warm and I love.
I'm off to spread kisses and hugs to Ace, because he deserves them for putting up with me when it's not so sunny out.

Labels
I have issues with being labeled. It's not so much that I disagree that I am those things. I just don't like being pigeon-holed into being seen as only certain things. And the labels seem so limiting in how others would view me. I hate that people might look down on me for being a housewife (when I get to be) or a temp or whatever. There's nothing wrong with being those things. I like being those things (being a housewife more than being a temp, but that's just me).
And despite all that, there is one label I'm longing for that hasn't happened yet. (If you can't figure out what it is, you haven't been paying attention.)
I'm an odd woman.
The exhaustion is gone, but the hunger has returned.

Exhaustion
People! I am feeling exhausted. I'm not sure why. My best guess is that I'm fighting something off. I've been feeling tired for most of this week.
I can tell that something is off (besides just feeling tired), because I'm dropping things and mixing up my words. Worse, I'm not fully noticing when I mix up my words.
I'm very seriously thinking of going and taking a nap.

Valentine's Day The Sequel
It's not so much that Ace and I celebrated Valentine's Day, but that I never told you the wonderful stuff he did after last Monday. He got me roses, delivered the 13th (for cheaper shipping, and so I could enjoy them the entire day of the 14th). He also took me by the Russel Stover's store. He first planned on taking me Friday, but he was fighting off a cold or something (all I know is he was tired and was running a fever), so we delayed going until Monday. We got a really good deal on chocolate (4 for the price of 1).
He's also bought me a book, which I'll get to sometime later this year (I've got a few others to finish first). He is a wonderful husband, and I wouldn't trade him for anything. And now that I'm no longer in pain/stressed out/full of hormones making me feel crazy, I can appreciate him so much more.

I've Been Taken Over by a Teenager!
Somehow, my body has decided to act like a teenage boy lately. And my mind is working with it somewhat. The things I've been interested in lately are food and sex (not so much this week on the sex). Everyday lately I seem to hit a part where I'm hungry and I can't seem to get full for anything.
I'll eat a full meal and still be hungry. I haven't eaten like this in years (at least not for more than a day). I have yet to figure it out, but I am eating a lot lately.
And now I'm going to go make myself food, because I'm starving over here!

Stubbornly Optimistic
Yesterday, after my semi-jealous ranting, I went to the bathroom and saw that I was spotting. Of course my baby-obsessed mind turned that into potential good news instead of the harbinger of doom that it was.
"It could be an embryo emplanting. I could be getting pregnant right now, and was just premature in peeing on the only pregnancy test in the house."
And then I had a couple of brownies and relaxed for most of the rest of the evening (except for some laundry folding).
This morning, still on the light spotting, which just keep me believing the optimistic hope that maybe I wasn't going to start my period this month.
While at work, I noticed my jeans were feeling really tight around the waist. And all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and not move for a week.
Have I mentioned that I'm definitely not pregnant this month, but was stubbornly optimistic about the slightest potential of it happening?
After taking 2 Midol, I think I'm feeling human enough not to hide under my covers all weekend, but I'm not up for doing anything today.
I'm going to lay back down now.

The Wait Part ? (We must be on part 15 by now, right?)
Today, I am supposed to start my period. Hasn't happened, but the day isn't over yet. In an overly expectant mood this morning, I peed on a stick (or took a pregnancy test, stick with whichever phrase makes you happy). It came up negative. Happy Valentine's Day from my body.
Then we went and started getting our taxes done. While we were there, the tax guy mentioned that he and his wife are going to have #5. Great for them, hard on someone waiting for #1. And getting taxes done is like the least romantic thing to do on Valentine's Day.
Then, Amalah, whose blog I love reading (and her son is so cute it makes my blood-sugar rise just looking at him) decides to tell us that she's pregnant with #2.
I'm happy for them, I'm just fighting off the green-eyed monster as I'm sitting here. And I'm waiting for something to happen over here in this body. Will I be pregnant or has my body just been messing with me lately?
Is it okay to cry with frustration? Or should I gorge myself on the brownies cooling in the kitchen?

Valentine's Day & Nausea
Ace and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day yesterday. We went out to a nice dinner at El Chico. We exchanged cards (Ace got me a card that I had considered getting him). I gave him his gift(s) (me, in some lingerie). We had some only slightly awkward sex (I was feeling slightly nauseous and light headed).
And that brings me around to the nausea. Yeah, I've been feeling slightly nauseous the past two days. And my breasts have been tender some (off and on) over the last 3 days. In the past, around my period, my nipples have been sensitive, but not my whole breasts.
I'm going to go back to laying down, trying to not feel sick.
Ugh.

Memories, Mostly Misty But Not Watercolored
Or, I'm Thinking of What my Life Was Like in the 80s and early 90s.
Way back when I was turning 6 (1986), I remember that my friends and I were concerned about Baby Jessica (that's still what I think of her as, even though I've heard she's grown up, gotten married, and living a life out of the public eye as much as possible). She was down the well, and in fact got pulled out during my 6th birthday party.
My dad recently revealed that he and my mom weren't happy that all of us little girls wanted to watch, just in case something bad happened, but we were so adamant that we watch (or at least I was) that they gave in and let us. In fact, my mother was waiting in the kitchen with my cake, candles lit, until after Baby Jessica was rescued (which means she missed it because roughly 5 5-and-6 year-olds made her wait). It's one of the earliest clear memories I have.
From what I can tell, based on my vast exploring of 1 website, I didn't have the same experiences as most other kids growing up in the 80s. My family didn't have cable (so, I didn't get to see MTV, ever, or Nickelodeon, unless we were at someone else's house). I didn't have any gaming systems (although I think I've played an Atari before, I'm just not sure).
But I had lots of My Little Ponies, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcakes, Barbies, Babysitter's Club books, and Judy Blume books. Not really deprived, and I guess I'd never shown any interest in game systems (I did want cable, and I'm sure my parents knew that, they just didn't care), until I got a Game Boy when I was about 12 or 13 (it had a clear cover, but was somewhat brick like in look and size).
I can remember when it became popular in 6th grade for girls to get pacifiers and suck on them. That was one thing my parents forbid, so I didn't have one (and was frustrated by it). But I did have jelly shoes, which I suppose made up for it.
Well, I think I've shared enough misty memories for now. Maybe I'll mention more sometime in the future.

The Work Day Ends with a Scream
Yesterday wasn't the best day. When I was almost at work, a little smoke started coming out from under the hood. Then, I felt stressed about work stuff and snapped a little at my boss (I also called him back and apologized for snapping). I filled the coolant tank back up (because I figured that was the problem), but when I was almost home, guess what happened again?
Yeah, the smoke started back up. Plus, it smelled like tar, which caused me to check when the oil needed to be changed. 2000 miles earlier according to the little sticker they put in your car so you'll get your oil changed regularly. Ace hadn't looked recently, and we had done a lot more driving than he had thought.
On the plus side, when I got home, I got a big hug from Ace. He went and got the oil changed too. He's hoping to find out tonight if that was enough to fix the smoke/smell problem. We are still going to take the car to our mechanic, because it is going through coolant waaaaay too fast. Then he did something he hadn't done in a long while. He took the evening off to help make me feel better.
And then, at the end of the day, we had sex. I guess yesterday wasn't so bad after all.

More About Us Getting TV Again (And Maybe Some Other Stuff Too)
Because Ace works for DirecTV, we are getting the services for free (most of the services, we have to pay for pay-per-view and service calls after the installation, but I think that's it). And we only have to wait until Sunday for it to be installed! Ace spent at least an hour looking at what will be on the movie stations Sunday, trying to figure out what we might watch. I sat in my seat wishing my back felt better so I could get up and dance about it.
In other, slightly confusing news, Ace has been giving me soda for most of the past week. Normally we don't keep soda in our house, but we got some while we were at Wal-Mart last week, and then Ace got some more when he was picking up groceries this week, and he's not given me any juice since he restocked the supply. It's been odd. Juice is actually more likely to be my drink of choice (it doesn't have carbonation and carbonation causes problems with my ears ringing sometimes).
Oh, and sticking with food, I've been eating at lunch like I've skipped like 5 meals since I last ate, but have been starving the whole time. And this gigantic hunger comes from no where. I'm fine, and then I'm starving. It's crazy!
I guess that's all for now.
TTFN!
P.S.: I hope Sarah and her Goon Squad feel better as quickly as possible. I miss her interesting and revealing (about how kids think) posts.

Coming to a House Near Me Soon
Okay, not so much a house near me as my house. Sunday, Ace and I get our DirecTV installed. Sunday is going to be a great day in this house. The installer should be here between 8 and 12 Sunday morning. We are also getting a visit from Karen and her kids (Jack and Jill). While they are here, Karen is going to give us messages (she's a massage therapist) to start paying us for the massage chair we traded her (for 8 massages).

The Parts of Commercials I Dislike
I'm going to put up a short list of what specifically is said in certain commercials to make me dislike them immensely (and my comments about them). Feel free to add yours to the comments.
1. "This product has been proven to help you quit smoking." Um, no. I've never taken this product (nor smoked), so it's not been proven to help me with anything.
2. "I don't want to be another statistic." You'll be a statistic either way, you just don't want to be on the bad side of the statistics.
3. "We've got the lowest prices. Guaranteed." The commercials I see with this the most often are stores that I know have some of the highest prices. It's ridiculous.
4. I don't have a number 4, because numbers one through three bug me too much to think of any other lines from commercials that bug me.
That's all for now.
TTFN!
P.S.: Tulsa, at 12:30 a.m. on a Saturday, has a show about a tree service. I never knew that before. Tonight's show is from after our recent ice storm. Apparently Tulsa has 90 days from the storm to clear up all the debris, which might explain why my power is on, but my neighborhood still has lots of branches.

Born Naked(?)
This weekend, I decided to see how long I could go without wearing clothes (just walking around naked). I actually made it through all of Saturday and most of today. I got dressed around 5:15 pm today so that Ace and I could go buy couple of books (I ended up with 2 I Spy books, because I love looking for things in pictures), return some movies from Blockbuster (okay, it was Dexter Season 1, but still), rent a few new movies, and finish our grocery shopping at Wal-Mart (Ace went last night, but forgot a few things).
I found out that walking around naked was a big turn on. It did make me decide that I need to walk around naked more often at home. If only Guillermo didn't seem to like to stare at me when I'm naked (it's like he can't figure me out, or something).
Anyway... Um, that's really all I have to say, other than Sex and the Teenage Mind ended up being a waste of time and money. I wouldn't recommend it.

P.S.: This is actually the longest time I've spent naked since before I was born.

Sex Sells
Ace suggested that I title today's post sex, but I figured I'd add sells. Yesterday, after talking about being horny (and having sex), I had 11 hits here. It's Ace's theory that I got more hits because I mentioned sex. I half agree with him (the other half is busy thinking about the Chinese food I've got in my fridge).
Other than thinking of advertising (and it's mottos), I haven't done much this evening. I am debating whether or not to get out some alcohol and drink (just because I'm possibly ovulating doesn't mean I can't enjoy getting slightly tipsy and relaxing.
Well, I think I'll get me a plate of Chinese and some alcohol and relax in my bed for the rest of the evening.

From Zero to Horny in 5.2
Today, I didn't think I would be interested in sex. Not because my husband doesn't turn me on (or because of sexy serial killers), but because I didn't seem at all interested in sex (or anything but trying to find some laughs) (let's see how many parentheses I can put in one sentence) (apparently 8). I left the living room to join Ace in the bedroom (my plan was to cuddle, originally) and didn't feel interested in sex at all. I get into the bedroom and strip (for more skin to skin contact), and suddenly I'm totally interested in sex, which makes Ace happy, since he wasn't really expecting sex today. So, I went from zero interest in sex to horny in, like, 5.2 seconds.
Of course, sex today wasn't just about relieving the horniness. It was also, slightly, about trying to procreate. The time should be about right for making me pregnant. But mostly, it was because of my odd horniness popping up so quickly.
So, there you have it.
How was the rest of my day (at least, so far)? Well, it was odd. I've determined that I need to be a little pushy with my boss to find out if he wants me only temporarily or he thinks this should become permanent. Hopefully my co-worker will help me point out to him that it's not fair to me to keep me, and my future, waiting while he dreams of having what he had before I got there (he likes having me there, I think he just misses the woman I'm currently temporarily replacing).
Oh yeah, and it's snowing here. Makes me glad I've got the rest of the day off (well, off the roads, anyway).

The Dance of the Slightly Astonished
I have no idea what that title means, or what it has to do with anything. It just came to me and begged to be used. I couldn't disappoint it, not after all the hard times I'm sure it's already had in it's short life.
Ace and I are back down to one car, since we returned his father's car last night. It wasn't a problem, because right now we only need one car. I am hoping we get a second car soon, though.
We're still trying to figure out whether or not I need to get a second job. I haven't been able to talk to my boss to find out if they actually want to keep me. Part of me thinks I should e-mail the woman I'm temping for to find out if she's planning on coming back, but it doesn't feel like that's my place to do anything.
I've been thinking of my sister a lot lately. That isn't too surprising, since we've started talking to each other through e-mail recently. She's planning on coming by for lunch during her spring break. Even though that is probably a month and a half away, I'm already looking forward to it.
Well, I'm going to change my clothes into something more comfortable (on the next commercial break).

Serial Killers Can Be Sexy
Okay, so Ace and I are watching season 1 of Dexter. It's a show about a sociopathic serial killer (he only kills bad people). He's got a girlfriend with two kids and he works for the police department (he analyzes blood splatter). And the opening credits keep reminding me that he's a killer. And yet, his character is attractive.
You can tell he's holding back on taking care of a few problems for his girlfriend (taking care = killing in this case). And I have problems with the fact that I find this killer, who shows his audience how much of his life is a facade, so darn attractive and sexy. It's not that I want to have sex with him, but... I want the show to continue when it's over. I want to know more about this character than they have time to show.
Ace and I watched the 7 of the first 8 episodes yesterday. I was (and still am) frustrated that we only watched one episode today, because I want to know how it will go, how the story will end. And I want to know if they've set up the next season (season 2, I mean) at the end of this one.
So, the main thing I've learned lately is that serial killers can be sexy and I occasionally get slightly obsessed over television shows.
TTFN!
P.S.: I'm not loving The L Word right now (I'm trying to watch part of season 1, and I'm just not getting into it.).

Learning to Be
I think right now I'm learning how to just be. And by right now, I mean tonight. Not that I fully know what it means to just be yet. Which is why I'm working on it.
I think some of the people I work with at Bath and Body Works were surprised to hear that tomorrow is my last day (including one of the managers). But since the main manager of the store didn't ask me to stay (not that I was wanting to), I finish working tomorrow evening. It will be a little odd to have my evenings and weekends free again, at least for now, but I'm glad I had this experience.
Well, I think it's about my bed time, so I'm going to go. I'll try to find something more relaxing to do to get my mind in sleep mode.

All I Want for Valentines Day...
is to be/get pregnant. Which shouldn't come as a surprise to, well, anyone who has been reading. Ace is trying to be supportive of my current insane fantasy that if we have problems getting me pregnant through the rest of this year, we shouldn't get tested to find out why, we should keep trying and possibly start trying to adopt.
Have I mentioned that I might be slightly insane?
I'm not fully sure that Ace realizes how slightly obsessed I am with the idea of getting pregnant (we haven't talked much about it lately, other than to both agree that we're ready to put trying back in the picture, now that we are more financially stable). Of course, I'm still on the lower end of the obsession scale. I'm not currently sinking money into fertility monitors (maybe in April or May, if things haven't started happening).
Tonight is my last night to deal with the public while working for Bath and Body Works (tomorrow is my last day, but I'll only be there for floor sets, which means I can wear whatever I want!). It's going to be odd, yet somewhat nice not working there anymore. I'm not sure if I'll try to find another job on the weekends and in the evenings. I think Ace and I need to discuss it first (looks like something to talk about tomorrow).
Well, I've got to go finish getting ready for work.

Post 101
My last post was number 100 (and now you get the meaning behind the title for this post). And it wasn't about anything clever or funny. It was about mortality and death. Not exactly pleasant topics for discussion. And, not surprisingly, I didn't have any response from people. I wasn't saying anything interesting or new. So, today I'm going to post information about me.

Things you may not have known about me.....
A) Four jobs I have had in my life:

Numb
I'm numb. It's somewhat nice, because I've spent the better part of the day feeling upset (what with the lack of bathrooms and frustrations with the computer at work). But having recently read about the death of Heath Ledger, I'm numb. I think it's shock. I keep hoping it's all a bad dream, not because I know him or think he's the greatest star ever, but oddly because I'm not that much younger than he was. He's 28, I'm 27. And I have always known that there is the possibility of death, but I guess it's hitting home a little more than it ever has before. Oddly, when I read of his death, my first thoughts were not of his daughter, who I do feel bad for (I'm sure it will be hard to grow up without her dad), but that it seemed so odd and out of place. And my brain keeps trying to point out that I don't know anything about him, other than he was a good actor. So, why is this death hitting me so hard?
I think I may drown my numbness in some alcohol. I know it won't fix anything, but it may cheer me up a little.

Adventures in Grossness
Do you know how it's going to be a bad day?
You wake up, set one foot in the bathroom, recoil because the floor is wet, and notice that there is a puddle of water around the toilet where there wasn't before (and shouldn't have been).
Then, after 3 and 1/2 hours of frustration at work because the computer doesn't want to do what it's supposed to, you find out the problem has gotten worse while you were gone (Ace took today off so he could drive me to and from work, just in case there was ice. There wasn't, but it was a wonderful gesture.).
So, then you find out that the first place you talk to about fixing your problem won't be there until tomorrow (no toilet, no shower/tub, and they can't come until tomorrow?). You sigh and half hope that your second job will want you to come in so you can go to the bathroom there (it's that or the gas station down the road). Then, your wonderful husband calls the company back to find out how much it should be, they tell him "I dunno." So he calls another company, who can come later today and it should be somewhere between $100 and $150 most likely.
After the pipes are fixed (stupid roots in the pipes), you then have the unenviable task of cleaning up after all the sludge (2 toilets, 1 tub, and 2 floors to mop, and a shower to take so you feel clean again after you finish, plus another load of laundry to do). An hour after the plumbing company arrives, you finally feel clean again.
I'm sure you can guess whose day that was.
It's gotten a lot better in the last 30 minutes (since I got out of the shower).
I'm going to go relax and enjoy the rest of my evening off. Especially since my bathrooms are clean and usable again.

Waiting for Words
Lately, I keep feeling the desire to write something. Then I realize that I have no clue what, so I get frustrated and don't write anything (or at least nothing I'm satisfied with). I'm not sure why, but it seems important. So, for now, I'll get on here and talk about whatever random things I think of, but in the back of my head, I'm hoping that whatever I need so badly to say will eventually come out.
I made a few adjustments to my profile, including changing my job description from future mom-to-be to future mom. I'm not pregnant yet, but it's still accurate (I'll adopt if I can't do anything else). It's hard though. It's hard watching my extended family growing while I'm still waiting (reading parenting blogs, a hobby of mine, doesn't help either). But I'm happy to see their families growing and happy. I apparently love feeling mixed emotions.
Well, I have to go. Ace wants to go pick his glasses back up (he got new ones recently and he's got his lenses switched to the permanent ones today).

Two Days in a Row? Wow!
I thought I'd tell you more of what happened during the great internet outage of 2007.
We lost our power for 3 days after the ice storm (it got down to 53 degrees in my house, I normally keep it at 75 people!). I ended up working some overtime at Bath and Body Works while we didn't have power. There wasn't much else to do and I was scheduled to work on those days (I went in early, and closing was usually rather late). It made my paycheck from there look at least a little nicer.
I got to see my siblings on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (briefly, in the morning on New Year's Day). Ace and I finally visited my dad and celebrated Christmas with him. While there, I found out that I was exhausted enough to say penguin when I meant to say goose (I didn't notice that I said the wrong thing, I'm still remember saying goose, but I believe Ace and my dad when they say I said penguin). I had worked for 5 days in a row at Bath and Body Works (with the discontinued products, trying to learn where they were and still help people). Apparently, that exhausted the parts of my brain that weren't already tired. I took a nap on the way home and slept for 3 more hours after we got here.
I watched some movies. Ocean's Thirteen was good, it rounded out the series rather well. A Civil Action, which I finally got to see all (I saw part of it in my sociology class... in 2006), was good, but I didn't really like the ending. Lord of War was interesting, but I wouldn't really recommend it to everyone. Live Free or Die Hard was really good. Interesting, and terrifying, plot line. Entirely too plausible for my comfort.
Oh, and I've decided to slow down on the sarcasm this year. It's my New Year's resolution, sort of. I've done really well so far, but I still have work to do.
Well, that's all for now.

Attempting to Catch Up with the Internet
Well, Ace and I are finally back from our long internet hiatus. We got our internet connection back up earlier today. I am almost sort of caught up on what I normally read while I'm online.
Speaking of reading, I've been doing a lot of that lately. Mostly since the first, because I was working most days in December. I've read The Bourne Supremacy (not anything like the movie) and The Notebook. I've almost finished a book about cases tried before the Supreme Court and Bob Newheart's autobiography (I Shouldn't Even Be Doing This! and Other Things that Strike Me as Funny).
Well, I'm going to go back to reading posts. I might be caught up by the time I have to be at work tomorrow.
TTFN!
P.S.: I've missed posting. Have you missed me any?

Busy and Not Communicative
I have not forgotten about this blog, I've just been busy working and not near an internet connection much outside of work (while I'm still awake, that is). And I don't feel comfortable posting while I'm supposed to be working. Because that's not what they are paying me to do. Oddly, I'm okay with spending some time looking at websites they aren't asking me to look at. I'm weird, I know.
If you get a chance, read the book "The Thirteenth Tale". It took me a little while to get into the book, but once I did, I hated putting it down.
Well, I have to go. Ace wants to go get gas and go home.

Working Up a Storm
2 Words on work Friday night: seven hours.
I have worked 15 hours since Friday at 5 p.m. It's been busy, my feet and arms hurt, and I'm tired, but I'm glad to be relaxing and watching a Christmas movie (I love Christmas movies/carols).
I'm all cozy in my robe (an early Christmas present, bought from Bath & Body Works) and don't plan on getting dressed again today.
I'm off to enjoy other things online, because I have nothing left to say.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving from Arkansas. Ace and I are visiting my dad for the day, and I am taking a few minutes to say Hi. Soon, I'll be eating a turkey dinner that I've been waiting at least a week to get to eat. It's worth the wait.
Enjoy your holiday!

Of Earrings and Love
Several years ago (roughly 10), my wonderful, talented sister got me a pair of smiley face earrings with Santa hats on them for Christmas. I'm not sure why she chose them, my guess is the fact that she knows I like smiley faces. I'm not sure why they are so important to me, other than who chose them. But last December, when I went to put them on, they were lost. I still don't know where they are, somewhere in my house I assume. I hope that after we get back into our house I can find them, because they are my favorite earrings for the month of December.
Oh, and did I mention that I should be back into my house Monday? Yeah. I'll be sleeping in my bed again. I won't be posting often, but I will be sleeping in my own bed.
Well, I must go. I have a few things to do with Ace between his jobs.

Frustrated
Some days, I just want to scream, yell, and throw a tantrum about lack of integrity. But, of course, that wouldn't be mature, so I don't do it. But I do make decisions never to have anything to do with those people again if I can help it. Ace and I were supposed to get some money for a real estate deal he did earlier this year (a decent amount of money, that would get us back into our house), but the guy who was supposed to pay us decided to pay less than the amount he actually owed us (by several thousand dollars). So, he is on our list of people not to do business with in the future.
The plus side, I like both my jobs. There are some really great people who I get to work with, which helps make the time pass by faster (great for when I'm working at Bath and Body Works).
Okay, I'm going to eat things that probably aren't that good for me (like candy corn). Hopefully that will cheer me up.

Numb
Today, I'm numb. Things that I never thought were possible have happened. So far, my mind's response is to block my emotions and focus on random things. I'm just trying hard to get through today right now.
I'm going to go distract myself with something else now.

Now That You've Stopped Thinking of Halloween
I was just thinking of one of my friends from college. She has the knack for thinking up the most interesting and unusual costumes for Halloween. One year, she dressed as a black-eyed pea (black make-up around her eyes and a P on her shirt). Another year she was going to dress as a crayon, but changed her mind when several other girls wanted to go as the same thing. I don't remember what she dressed as that year, but she kept it secret from everyone but me that she wasn't going to be a crayon after all (because she knew I would keep that secret until Halloween).
Okay, that's all I have to say. Resume your normal day now.

I'm Tired
Dude, I'm tired. I mean, I've worked (on my feet) 14 hours in the past 72 hours (4 hours Friday, 5 hours yesterday, and 5 hours today). My feet are sore and I am tired.
But I have a wonderful, soft, new red robe (for less than $30, thank you store discount/sale). And I start work tomorrow morning at 9 for around $14 an hour. It's a Monday-Friday job for 3 months, 4 hours a day, doing office work (so I'll get to sit). I'm just happy that I have tomorrow off from Bath and Body Works (not that I won't probably go by the store with some out of town visitors, but not for a long time frame).
I'm going back to my relaxing.

I Have a Job (Again)
Today, I finally got called about the temp job I have been waiting to hear about for a month. I've got it. I'll be working for the next 3 months at a local ministry, doing various things about the office (mailing, data entry, assisting the accountant, etc.). I'm not sure when I start (I'll find out tomorrow morning), but I've got a guaranteed 20 hours a week for the next 3 months. So, now I'll be working 2 jobs part time through Christmas.
I'm thinking of celebrating. Not that I know what I should do to celebrate (maybe dream of celebrities children again?). But I am thinking of celebrating.
I'm going to go find a way to celebrate.

Working and Waiting
Well, this past weekend (and today) I have spent most of my time working or waiting. Mostly waiting. Yesterday was a long day. 5 hours at work that felt longer. Then I came home and got the pleasure of my niece's company (she got frustrated with Ace because he refused to let her change from watching Finding Nemo to Bugs Bunny. He just refused to let her have that much control, since I know he was not fascinated by Finding Nemo.). She was also convinced that we should all go to bed at her bed time (9 is a bit early for me to try to go to sleep). She had no idea that Ace and I were still up (technically, I was on my bed already). I doubt the time change helped her any, since she was probably somewhat tired.
It's been hard just waiting. But, it's about the only thing I can do. My mother-in-law suggested that I become a squeaky wheel, but that wouldn't help the temp agency to find me a job, nor would it cause the minister to call them back. So her suggestion is not something I'm going to put much emphasis on right now.
Well, I'm going to go find something pleasant to think about.

Getting More Hours
Next week, I've got a lot more hours that I'll be working at Bath & Body Works. In fact, I'll be working 5 of the 7 days next week (in fact, I'm working 7 of the next 9 days). It will be somewhat nice to be out of the house while Ace is at work. I'll be driving him to and from work (so I can use the car), but I'll be kept busy. I know that soon, I won't have much time with Ace (about an hour a day). I'm so ready to be back in my own home, even if I won't be there very often (actually, if I get the potential job, the one I'm still waiting to hear about, I'll have a decent gap to be home during the work week).
I'm going to do something else. I'm getting tired of waiting.
